We created a book and online game to educate children about transport in the New Forest National Park

New Forest
National Park

Design, Development, Content, Gaming, Education

The New Forest National Park team asked us to create a book and online game to engage youngsters in a fun way whilst educating them about the ways you can travel around the park.

Using our storytelling and illustration experience, we created a character called Furzley who goes on an adventure around the forest using all of the different modes of transport available. He meets lots of different animals along the way.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to work on this campaign and we look forward to more New Forest adventures in the future.

Play the Game

Furzley tells us his exciting New Forest story whilst educating children about transport in the National Park.

We’ve loved working on this project for the New Forest, which has allowed us to show our creative skills to their fullest. We’re really proud of the end result, and the story has been very well received by the client and children in focus groups.

Lynne Parkinson, Project Manager

The New Forest National Park needed a way of showing all their transport options. So we created Furzley and sent him on his travels.

The situation

The New Forest team were looking to encourage more children to visit the National Park with their parents. Not only that, they wanted to teach them about the different ways you can travel around the forest too.

What we did

By creating a character, Furzley the squirrel, we had a platform to be able to tell a story. We follow Furzley on his travels around the forest as he attempts to earn himself a Ranger’s badge. Along the way he uses a number of different types of transport to communicate the core message. We also created a series of games so children can continue the adventure online.

The outcome

500 copies of the book have been created to go into schools around Hampshire. There have also been numerous plays on the game and the numbers of visitors have gone up. A number of them are children looking to collect their very own Ranger’s badge!
